Ending Sexual and Domestic Violence
One Person at a Time: Animal Lovers

  • Be aware that animal abuse is closely linked to other forms of violence.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local paper.
  • Call 1-800-838-8238 or your local sexual and domestic violence program to receive brochures, stickers, and literature about violence. Place them in the SPCA, in vet’s offices, or anywhere else where the abused owner of an abused animal might see them.
  • Ask your veterinarian what s/he knows about the connection between animal abuse and other violence. Call 1-800-838-8238 for a packet of information you can share with her/him.
  • Call your local domestic violence program to see if they need help sheltering the pets of shelter residents.
