Ending Sexual and Domestic Violence
One Person at a Time: Media
- Ask the right questions and go beyond the stereotypes.
- When interviewing political candidates, ask them how they plan to address the crimes of sexual and domestic violence.
- When interviewing survivors, ask questions that will help the public understand sexual and domestic violence. Word your questions so they are not judgmental. For example, ask “What made it hard for you to leave?” rather than “Why did you stay?”
- Seek out the expertise of sexual and domestic violence victim advocates. Call the Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance at 804-377-0335 or visit www.vsdvalliance.org for more information.
