On April 1, 2004, the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence
Action Alliance (VSDVAA) Resource Library opened at the former
Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault (VAASA) office in
Charlottesville, Virginia. The collection of over 2,500 titles
focusing primarily on sexual and domestic violence and social
justice issues is comprised of resources from both the former
VAASA and Virginians Against Domestic Violence (VADV) libraries,
and is available to our membership for borrowing upon request.
Alliance staff seek to acquire all forms of media that will
keep our users abreast of emerging trends and current research
in the field. As the Resource Library is constantly expanding,
VSDVAA welcomes recommendations for purchases from our members,
allies and colleagues.
In an effort to enhance accessibility to our resources,
VSDVAA has partnered with the Virginia Department of Health
to list our Resource Library collection on the Center for
Violence and Injury Prevention’s Online Sexual Violence
Resource Center at www.svresources.org.
This site provides information about sexual violence resources
available in Virginia and nationally. Users may search
the database by title, author, type of resource or specific
topics. Additionally, the database provides a brief description
of every resource, distribution information and indicates
whether or not it is available in the VSDVAA Resource Library.
Borrowing Policy
Action Alliance (VSDVAA) members, including individuals,
organizations and member sexual and domestic violence programs,
are eligible to borrow from the resource library without
deposit. Member organizations and sexual and domestic violence
programs shall be the liable borrowers when staff of their
organizations borrow resources.
You may view the Resource Library collection on the Center
for Violence and Injury Prevention’s Online Sexual
Violence Resource Center at www.svresources.org.
