Allstate Training: Moving Ahead Through Financial Management

The Allstate/NNEDV Financial Empowerment Training uses the "Moving Ahead Through Financial Management" curriculum. This curriculum is designed to empower survivors of domestic violence by learning or re-learning the financial skills necessary to take control of their financial lives. By understanding and using these skills, survivors will be better equipped to make informed decisions for themselves and their children. It is divided into five modules that reflect the phases a survivor may move through while seeking assistance, while in crisis, during transition and while developing long term goals.

Basic Advocacy Trainings (BAT)

 

Basic Advocacy Trainings are designed for staff (paid and volunteer) of Action Alliance Sexual and Domestic Violence Advocacy member agencies who are in their first two years of working in the field. The trainings provide an opportunity to learn and practice the basic skills that are essential to effective advocacy. Cost: The registration fee for all Basic Advocacy Trainings is $35 and registration includes lunch.

Another Director's Choice, for February 16th. February 16 is crossover for Legislative Bills. This is the day when successful bills will cross to or from the Senate and the House of Delegates. The Action Alliance will provide updates. The Action Alliance has also been asked by the new Governor's cabinet to provide feedback on the needs of Sexual and Domestic Violence Agencies. Come prepared to give your feedback on issues ranging from the administration of state and federal funds by state agencies to the impact of budget cuts on the communities you serve to policy issues that you would like to see addressed through legislation. This meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the 2010 Accreditation Process.
